Robotics Advances to World Finals

2021 Vex Robotics Worlds Event Recaps

Team 5588C - Cole Borror '22, Andres Lopez '22 and Nicholas Sackleh '22 won the Science Division in the live remote skills. Their last-minute design change helped them be chosen by the top seeded alliance partner from the American School in Taiwan 66799A and they went on to top the division of 38 teams.  This propelled them into the evening 8 alliance division finals - the "Elite Eight" of the Vex World Championship - finishing as one of the top 16 teams at Worlds.

Team 5588D - Will Bauer '21, Kris Jesionkiewicz '21 and Joseph Spencer '21 set the new season high for the state of Maryland in World Skills Rankings.  Their scores of 117 in driver control and 103 in programming combined for a total of 220 (max 252), placing them first in Maryland.  They finished 4th out of 46 teams in the Mars Division.
 
Team 5588H - Ben Sontag '21, Robbie Stewart '21 and Aiden Wood '21 scored a personal best 121 in driver, just off the max 126.  Their total score of 176 ranked them 9th in the Mars Division.  When aggregated, 5588D scored 33rd out of 189 and 5588H scored 82nd out 189 of the best teams across the globe.
