January 30 - Relationships & Spirit
Click below to read our reflections from the day...
After school we had an hour to burn before their talent show, so we went over to the trading post that was nearby. A couple of guys got some things such as blankets or clothes. When we got back to the school and the talent show started, I realized that a couple of the student entries were missing, so I went over to Brother Dillan to see what’s going on. He said that they were missing a couple of people whether it was because they weren’t there, or they just backed out of doing their talent. I volunteered to assist the school to keep the talent show a lengthy event, so I went up on stage and did a voice impression act. I didn’t mess up, and it’s nice to give to the school in such short notice. Having selflessness throughout the week has been the reason why we’ve been so helpful. -Henry
Yesterday was the most fun I had on this trip yet. Instead of being sad that we as a group would be leaving Friday, I made the best of it and really bonded with the kids. The kids had a different attitude by the end of the week that I never imagined they would have. They were very closed off in the beginning and barely wanted to be around me but today the kids always wanted to be near me and wanted me to help them out with everything. The kids also respect me better than at the beginning of the week and really respect me even though I have been here for only a week. In the beginning they barely would listen and treat me like some random person but now they listen and respond to me better. Having one more day with the kids is unfortunate but I am proud of them and myself for creating an everlasting relationship and impact. -Marco
