Visual Arts

The visual arts program gives our students the space and instruction they need to experiment, hone their talents, and express themselves. It places an emphasis on drawing and painting, but includes other disciplines, including: watercolors, printmaking, ceramics, woodworking, and graphic design. Participation in outside art competitions is encouraged.
The Calvert Hall Visual Art Program is a hands-on program in studio art, with a foundation based on academic training and observational skills. The program, held in our state-of-the-art classroom/workshop and gallery space, provides the environment for enhanced visual communication, creativity, aesthetic and creative thinking skills, self-discipline, leadership and teamwork. Through their art, students develop their visual perception skills, along with their eye-hand coordination, self-expression, and creative problem solving skills.

Our classroom and workshop, modern and spacious facilities, include a woodshop with woodworking tools, a kiln room with two electric fired kilns, and spacious studio space for painting and drawing. Other features include skylights and a powerful ventilation system.
